The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been released from care, local government spokespeople confirmed on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident in the Lagos area on Monday, a devastating event that claimed the lives of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while healing from his light wounds, representatives confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to offer their condolences to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Honoring the Deceased
The two men who died were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a fitness coach, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. The official further stated that the athlete was heartbroken and deeply emotional over the tragic loss of his two dear friends.”
